As Paradise Falls Re-emerge With ‘BATS’ + New Madness / Medicine EP

As Paradise Falls 2022

We’ve been following Brisbane deathcore outfit As Paradise Falls from their inception, and we’re like proud parents seeing how far they’ve come in their near-decade as a band. A couple of years ago we had a chat with guitarist and mastermind Danny Kenneally about their ‘Bleed For The Crown‘ single, released in the midst of arguably the worst part era of the pandemic in Australia.

Fast-forward to 2022, and As Paradise Falls are back with a brand new one titled ‘BATS‘ – a nod to COVID’s origins perhaps? The new single comes with an exciting announcement for the two Aussie boys too, with Kenneally joined by Ravi Sherwell on vocals. The single will be heard on their forthcoming EP Madness / Medicine, out September 23 via Eclipse Records.

BATS‘ is actually less about COVID and more about cancel culture. The single is packed with groovy riffs and some really sharp elements across the board. The three-minute track truly shows a step-up As Paradise Falls, who earnestly keep growing and evolving with each and every release.

On the new single, Kenneally comments:

“BATS was one of the first songs to be written during the demo process, and it actually was one of my LEAST favourite songs as other tracks were written. We were close to doing a re-write or just scrapping it altogether. However as soon as we did a second demo and then added the vocals, it just came together. Now, it is easily one of the most hard-hitting songs we’ve written, and I am so proud of how this track came out, and how my vision came to life.

Sherwell adds:

“When I heard the demo of BATS for the first time in Danny’s studio, I immediately knew this was going to have that dark, bouncy groove I could really blend with. Lyrics started flowing, mixing themes of witch trials/hunts with current issues surrounding cancel culture. Without much conscious thought, BATS became the purest form of modern APF: hard hitting, oozing with groove, and just bullshit heavy.”
