Grey Daze Unveil Forthcoming LP ‘The Phoenix’ and Four-Part Documentary Series

The story behind Grey Daze is wholesome as hell.

If you’re not in the loop, Grey Daze is the band the late Chester Bennington was in before he crossed paths with Linkin Park and changed the rock world for the better. Back in 2020, the band released an album titled Amends featuring unreleased/unheard vocal performances by Chester and the end result was an album that fans lapped up and offered a glimpse into what life could have been like if Chester went down the grunge direction that he was influenced by before turning his attention to nu-metal.

Not too long ago, the band unveiled plans to release a new album titled The Phoenix which is set to drop on June 17th via Loma Vista Recordings and once again they’ve gone into the archives to uncover more vocal recordings from the iconic frontman and put them together with instrumentals so his legacy can live on through new music.

On the new collection of music (which also features Dave Navarro, Richard Patrick and Bennington’s daughters, Lily and Lila Bennington), drummer and songwriter Sean Dowdell revealed:

“Amends was more emotional and reflective… We felt sad when we were writing it. Now that we’re a couple of years removed, it’s very clear what we were going through. We were at a different stage of grief. We went through the shock and the sadness. Now, we’re back to gratitude. So, The Phoenix is more of a celebration of our friend, his talent, and the music. It captures Chester’s angst and energy that people fell in love with. It’s much more aggressive. If you love Chester’s scream, you’ll love this record.”

In celebration of the album, the band also announced a four-part documentary series in which they detail the making of the record. This episodic series will drop in the lead up to the album’s release.

Grey Daze: Creation of The Phoenix is a story of brotherhood among a band, dealing with changes, and recognizing how full circle life and art can be.
