Mayday Parade Saturday 23rd April 2022 The Roundhouse, Sydney NSW Supports: Real Friends and Those Who Dream
What's this? An international pop punk act (well two in fact) back on our shores filling us with all of the feels we've been missing for over two years with accents? You know we had to be there!
Those Who Dream set the tone for the night as the audience slowly made their way into The Roundhouse again for a night of sing-a-longs and a sense of belonging again.
Illinois boys Real Friends' new singer was impressive AF and held his own really well when taking the spotlight. The band wasted no time getting to know their Aussie fanbase again. A shoey chant resulted in a wet shoe for one of the guys before the final two songs performed had a mass number of crowd surfers and an open pit to leave us all wanting more.
By the time MaydayParade hit the stage, the screams from fans throughout the venue were deafening. We really made sure they knew how missed they were in Sydney and they wasted no time getting into their set. Honourable mention goes towards the entire venue joining together for a communal sob during 'Stay' - seriously if you didn't have wet eyes during this, you're not human!
For the encore, the band played 'Jamie All Over' from A Lesson in Romantics and everyone went batsh*t crazy for it - myself included! All in all, it was surreal to have one of our fav international acts back down under and if this is the start of the influx of tours we're about to have in Australia again, tissue sales and spirits will be in high demand!
