Cancer Bats Release New Single ‘Lonely Bong’

Canadian punk/hardcore outfit Cancer Bats are lapping the excitement of their forthcoming seventh album, Psychic Jailbreak next month by dropping in with new single ‘Lonely Bong’. The song gives off massive fast-paced punk energy that even bystanders will be keen for headbang after listening. Drummer Mike Peters explains the song’s premise:

“Lonely Bong is a song about life on the road and being in a band. It was a big lifestyle change for us when the pandemic happened and we couldn’t tour. We missed it a lot. Playing music, seeing friends and fans from around the world. We didn’t even see each other for over a year. LB is a homage to the road life and the blessing it’s been in our lives.”

The video ramps up the song’s intensity by showing the band’s attempts in keeping up with today’s youth and immersing themselves in doing all the weird shit we see on social media today. Makes for an amusing clip to tune into, but if you ask me, the Cancer Bats can clearly rock it on their own without succumbing to social media trends. Keep your eyes peeled for cameos from Chris Cresswell (The Flatiners) Wade MacNeil (Alexisonfire/Dooms Children) and Stephen Harrison (Fever 333).
