Wall of Sound presents: “2021 YEAR IN REVIEW” – by Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers’ Jaida Stephenson

Canberra all-female outfit Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers are an energetic bunch, alright. Ever since catching wind of their new single ‘AHHH!’ this year, the girls have been ensuring they’re the band on everyone’s mind when you scream. They managed to garner the attention of UNIFY Gathering and alongside Teenage Joans, are the first all-female bands to perform at the alternative/heavy music festival.

Outside of producing infectious indie rock goodness though, the girls have been hella busy in 2021 by producing content for their YouTube channel, in the form of Teen Jesus TV. We hung out with bass player Jaida Stephenson to hear more about it and what other music tickled her fancy this year.

BEST MUSIC VIDEO OF 2021?

Jerome Farah ‘Concrete Jungle Fever’, directed by Sanjay De Silva

LAST GIG YOU PLAYED BEFORE COVID HIT?

Yours & Owls 2021, but before Covid it was our headline tour for the release of ‘Desk Chair’

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT RETURNING TO THE STAGE?

A bit nervous but mainly super excited. We are all itching to play to a crowd again and can’t wait to share all our new music.

HOW DID YOU STAY BUSY THROUGHOUT THE PAST TWO YEARS?

We all spent a lot of time working on ourselves, picking up new hobbies and moving to new places! We also managed to write so much music and created our little web series Teen Jesus TV which was lots of fun.

BEST ADVICE GOING INTO 2022?

Take it easy! It’s really nerve racking coming out of being in isolation for nearly two years so don’t be too hard on yourself, but also make sure you spoil yourself!!!! Make up for all that lost time by buying tickets to that concert or going on that trip.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO IN 2022?

Honestly just being able to play live shows and travel again! We have the best time on tour and can’t wait to go round to all these beautiful locations to play music and have fun.
