Melbourne’s In Vanity Just Dropped Prime Deathcore Track ‘Epitome’
Melbourne boys In Vanity are bringing you the next and best in deathcore. Overnight the band have delivered ‘Epitome’, a tasteful four-minutes of brutal heaven. The track comes on the back of their 2019 EP Nodus Tollens which launched the Aussie band onto the scene. The EP featured track ‘Burn’ featuring David De La Hoz.
The latest release from the band sees them step it up and adore fans with their new material with new frontman Ralph Brown (of Without Belief fame) stepping up to scream his way back into our lives.
On his new role within In Vanity, Ralph told us at Wall of Sound:
“Coming into a established band and having them already be in the middle of a new song and working on new music and sound that was different to what I am use to was a great challenge and breath of fresh air! Coming into this and not being the lyricist was also interesting as this song was actually a story Ollie Midson, our Drummer wanted to share about his personal life experiences. Listening to the lyrics and the story Ollie comfortably shared was something I never expected or knew about him but gave me a whole new perspective and appreciation for someone I’ve met in our scene and had the privilege to now work with and be apart of something bigger!”
‘Epitome’ delivers not only a powerful song, but also an incredibly high-definition video for the track. Sonically, you’re going to have your mind blown. Brown delivers retching vocals across the eerie instrumentation. The riffs are super-hairy (interpret that as you will) and the production of the local band is remarkable. Look out for more from In Vanity as they’re undoubtedly going to continue launching into the depths of the global deathcore community.
On the song’s themes, drummer Ollie Midson explains:
“When the music for ‘Epitome’ was done, I was intimidated by how it sounded like a towering figure looming over you, so it immediately made sense for the lyrics to tell a story of how in our darkest hours, anxiety and depression and the desire to die can manifest themselves into this ginormous monster, and in doing so, leave us feeling completely pessimistic about our existence and wondering if we’re really anything more than our mental illness.”
