Would Ice Nine Kills Consider Taking The Silver Scream to the Stage?

It's a question I've been pondering for the past three years following my initial discovery of Ice Nine Kills, but have they thought about it? Turns out, they have.

If you missed it, I had a chat with frontman Spencer Charnas last week to talk all things The Silver Scream 2 (our review here) and mid-interview, the topic changed to his personal future plans. Having turned some of the world's most recognised novels and horror films into heavy metal masterpieces, I gauged if he would ever consider taking metalcore to the stage for a broadway-esque performance (you know, because the band's theatrics on stage are just as professional as their music videos), and it's a concept he's actually considered:

"[I've] definitely thought about that, you know the horror Hamilton so to speak. I would love to explore all kinds of mediums with a theatrical presentation of The Silver Scream and I think that would be the goal. As long as it as long as it lives up to my expectations I'm absolutely down, and I think it would really lend itself to the screen and the stage so I'm glad you said that."

"I grew up loving musicals like Les Misérables and Phantom of the Opera so I would be up for the challenge".

He's even got his own mask so he's already halfway there! You have to appreciate the amount of work and fine-tooth combing that goes into creating INK's mediums. From EPIC music videos, an in-depth narrative backstory which Spencer hopes to "flesh out to be a feature film", through to their fanclub incentives and concerts, this truly is a band that are more than ready to take on another level of performance without hassle and I for one would be so keen to see them transport their ideas from one stage to another.

Also discussed was where the band could head next following this release.

As we know they’ve covered literature, cinema and video game adapted movies like Resident Evil, but could the band tackle more horror mediums such as video games like Silent Hill, Alone in the Dark and The Last of Us? In true Spencer form, he alluded the possibilities were endless:

“Oh man, I think that would be really really cool. I don’t want to speak too soon, but I think the idea of Ice Nine Kills making horror games, horror theme parks, horror haunted houses and horror movies are all on the table…”

It's an exciting time to be a horror/metalcore/Ice Nine Kills fan! Revisit the full interview below.
