Jenna McDougall Celebrates 10 Years of What Are You So Scared Of with Acoustic Livestream

Did you catch our huge feature story this celebrating 10 years of the album that was a gamechanger for Australian pop punk? ICYMI, Tonight Alive celebrated the 10th anniversary of their debut record, What Are You So Scared Of? and all week, the band have been sharing stories all over their Instagram of their first overseas adventure that was the recording process of WAYSSO?

On Thursday, frontwoman Jenna McDougall took to her personal account and played an absolutely beautiful acoustic set of four songs from the album. The stream began with a heartfelt rendition of ‘Safe & Sound’ before surprising us all with ‘Listening’ like we’ve never heard it before. Of course, an anniversary livestream couldn’t be complete without the album’s title track and the entire experience just felt so heartfelt and nostalgic — you could tell Jenna was a little nervous but nevertheless stoked to be there in this weird and wild distanced world we currently live in.

Finishing the stream on an uplifting note with ‘Sure As Hell’, the Instagram livestream was a loving gesture to an album that sparked a new path in the Australian pop punk community. What Are You So Scared Of? saw Tonight Alive tick off massive feats for a small, upcoming band from Sydney back in the day, from recording their debut album in LA, collaborating with Mark Hoppus and hitting the legendary Vans Warped Tour in 2012.

You could say that the band really left their mark on the industry as today they continue to influence many of Australia’s current pop punk community like Between You and Me, Yours Truly, Terra and PSTCRDS. You can hear their stories and memories in our exclusive feature here.
