After fooling us into believing that they were looking for a new vocalist with an epic prank/teaser campaign (well done legends) Brisbane’s very own WAAX have made their triumphant return to the new music scene with their new punky jam ‘Most Hated Girl‘ and it’s an absolute ripper of a tune!
Frontwoman Maz DeVita isn’t going anywhere and she’s honing in on her screams which, much like a fine red wine (or whatever the boomers say) have perfected over the years she’s been up front with the group. The instrumentals are still very much that unique WAAX style (raw punk) and together with Maz up front, they’re still destined for big things.
On the new song’s promo, Maz cheekily revealed:
“I always fantasised what it would be like if I wasn’t in the band… If I fake quit the band what would happen? Kind of like faking my own funeral. It’s cool to have actually done that because it’s nice to know that some people care. But then some people legitimately did audition because they sent through a bunch of really well done press packages and all this shit and I was like, ‘I was just looking for funny content, mate.’ We wanted to take that idea into the video – the posters, the social campaign all come together in the video. I knew I wanted to make a big splash because it was our first song in so long and so yeah, it was a really big collaboration.”
Cannot wait to see what’s next for these legends! Just no more pranks please…
