The Rolling Stones Drummer Charlie Watts Has Passed Away

Some tragic news from The Rolling Stones camp overnight, as the band shared that their drummer Charlie Watts has passed away at age 80. Charlie was a member of the band since its inception in 1962. It goes without saying that the influence Charlie had on rock and roll is immeasurable, and will be missed dearly by the band, his fans and musicians he influenced across decades and around the world. The band issued the statement below:

London - August 24, 2021


A statement from his spokesperson:
"It is with immense sadness that we announce the death of our beloved Charlie Watts. He passed away peacefully in a London hospital earlier today surrounded by his family.


Charlie was a cherished husband , father and grandfather and also as a member of The Rolling Stones one of the greatest drummers of his generation.


We kindly request that the privacy of his family, band members and close friends is respected at this difficult time."
