AGAPANTHER Return with Heartfelt Punk Anthem ‘Last Legs’

Adelaide alternative/punk outfit AGAPANTHER have been consistent with each of their releases since we stumbled upon them way back in 2019 with their debut ‘Dive’. Becoming a penchant for writing emotional belters about sadness and grief, the band’s brand new single ‘Last Legs’ is no different.

This time though, brothers Kyle and Dylan Kenworthy have poured their hearts out over the bittersweet story of the loss of a family pet, sharing:

“‘Last Legs’ centres around the story of losing our childhood dog. However, the story is somewhat bittersweet as Corky was expected to live for a mere three months after being diagnosed with cancer, yet survived another two years. The song focuses on the events leading up to her passing and the new feelings of grief that the boys experienced as they had to say goodbye to their beloved family beagle.”

The song also cements the band as a group to be reckoned with in the melodic punk/hardcore scene. Grasping gritty sounds that stagger between the genres of pop punk and brooding emo, AGAPANTHER’s ability to create incredible anthemic choruses are working to their favour and they’re quickly rising to similar levels to where bands like Slowly Slowly and Sly Withers are currently dominating.

See? We weren’t lying when we said these guys will be building up some crazy momentum when we put them in our list of Australian pop punk bands to watch this year!
