Blood Command Unveil ex-PAGAN Vocalist Nikki Brumen As New Screamer

If you’re still not over the sudden shock end of Pagan back at the start of last year, then this is gonna get you excited again!

Ex-Frontwoman Nikki Brumen has been announced as the new vocalist for Bergen-based Blood Command and this news is certainly going to send shockwaves through Australia’s heavy music scene, especially those of you who love the blend of pop/metal which has been bestowed upon us by the likes of Poppy and BABYMETAL. Their fist offering together ‘A Villain’s Monologue‘ is high impact heavy rock with Nikki’s unique vocals taking centre stage BUT her clean screams combined with the sudden change in instrumentals make it a juxtaposition of heavy meets lighthearted fun. In other words, if you like poppier/melodic songs you’ll dig it – but if you love heavy riffs and screams, you’ll love it just as much (if not more).

The mastermind behind the band Yngve Andersen spoke about hearing Brumen for the first time, revealing:

“I remember the first time someone showed me Nikki’s old band Pagan and all I was thinking about was why isn’t this girl fronting Blood Command? It was a match made in heaven. That she is in the band now is almost unreal to me. It’s a dream come true.”

That dream is now a reality and the next era of the band which Yngve explained will bring fans of Pagan and Blood Command together (maybe even for the first time):

“The new era of Blood Command is tougher, tighter and more melodic than ever before. This is also a great introduction for Pagan fans who may not have heard of Blood Command, as ‘A Villain’s Monologue’ really showcases the ferocity of Nikki’s vocals but also combines the deathpop sound that Blood Command is known for. This song is a taste of what’s to come…

Nikki, over the mood about her new musical act, spoke about her role and motivation with the band moving forward:

“I feel so privileged to have been given the opportunity to front a band that I love and that I feel such connection with. I will sing every note from my heart, I will scream every word from my gut. I will write every lyric from my soul together with the band and I will never let you down. We are all in this together now.”

“In a weird way, they reminded me of a more pop version on Pagan”

And that’s exactly what we’re getting from the new single. Get keen kids, Nikki’s back!
