Brisbane’s Take Us To Vegas Set To Reunite This August at PolarFest!

If you southerners can’t take much of the cold this winter maybe you should book a trip up north because here in Queensland, the live music scene is on fire right now. Things are set to heat up this winter with Brissie punks Young Lions (feat. ex-Dream On, Dreamer clean vocalist/guitarist Zac Britt), Human Warfare‘s latest metalcore signing APATE and scene icons Take Us To Vegas joining forces for the inaugural edition of PolarFest on August 14th at the Brightside.

The news of Take Us To Vegas coming off their lengthy hiatus is surely going to send shockwaves through Australia’s heavy music scene as these heroes make their triumphant return to the stage for the first time since 2016. The band themselves are stoked with the idea of teaming up again (after failing to align calendars for the better part of the past 5 years).

Guitarist Liam Hennessey shared his thoughts about the band’s long awaited comeback, telling Wall of Sound:

“We’re so hyped! We’ve waited over 5 years for all the stars to align to be able to play a show. Being a 45 minute set we should be able to fit in 3 songs total as I believe once we start talking we won’t stop…”

Also joining the aforementioned trio on this stellar first lineup of rising acts includes Sydney alternative/rock outfit Closure who will be making the trek up north alongside Melbourne upcomers (and #6 in our Top 25 Aussie Pop Punk Bands) PAPERWEIGHT, with emo rockers Wolf & Chain heading to the Sunshine State from RADelaide. Rounding off the festival will be Brissie new kids on the block Grizzlyshark, In Eyes, Sentiment, Strange Fiction, Rare Words, Empire Within, Chelsea Drives and Nervous Lights.

Festival organisers stated this is all about giving the new generation a crack and they’re hoping the scene comes out to support the new breed of bands from Brisbane and beyond:

“Polarfest is an all day festival, bringing the best in local hardcore, punk and alternative music to Brisbane. Our aim is to showcase the best up-and-coming bands, alongside the most epic of our Australian scene. As an endeavour in conjunction with Deaf Cult Initiative, we look forward to bringing Brisbane’s scene back to its A-game and beyond!”

What do Australia’s new and upcoming heavy/alternative bands sound like post-Covid? What do they have to offer our scene? Well, you’ll have to come and find out!
