Shatter Brain Celebrate Return to Gigs with Motörhead Cover

Adelaide metalcore newcomers Shatter Brain have dropped a new video for their take on Motörhead’s classic ‘Iron Fist’. The original was the title track from Motörhead’s 1982 album, the follow up to their seminal Ace of Spades.

Shatter Brain’s version is based on the rendition they performed live during their Tryna Tour in 2021 Tour that ran from Adelaide to Brisbane in February and March this year. Celebrating the release of their debut album Pitchfork Justice, the video features footage from gigs on the tour. They take the rock n roll thunder of the original and add their own metal edge, evolving the classic into the now.

“We've always had a cover or two kicking around. First it was ‘Blood and Thunder’ by Mastodon (which we recorded for our split with Blunt Shovel) and then we did ‘Seasons in the Abyss’ for a while which was a lot of fun. A couple of years ago we played a friend's 30th birthday party and decided to cover a few of her favourite songs, including ‘Iron Fist.’ It just felt great to play live and we're all big fans of the band/song, so we've kinda made it our own and we now play it at almost every show!”

Our review of their latest album noted Shatter Brain’s “ability to move between influences and not be confined by genre templates is impressive, especially for a debut album.” Certainly they’re a band with a diverse range of influences, reflected in their choices of songs to cover live.

Check out the video below and let the band know what you think on their socials.
