Igloo Zoo Deliver Djenty Goodness with 'Through The Night'

Back in 2019, we first discovered Sydney's Igloo Zoo and (at the time) everything-ist Shawn Mayer got us up to speed on his band and then album Light|Sound|Dimensions which took our reviewer by surprise and gave us a new way to enjoy heavy music. From there, the band released a standalone single called 'Psycho' and added a couple more members (drummer Jack Barrueto and guitarist Joel Debien) and now they're back with their next offering in the form of 'Through The Night'.
This new single is the first taste of the band's upcoming EP and it's got everything we've loved about the boys so far, djent, metalcore, screams, cleans and an EDM backing sound akin to what Northlane did with Alien. Much like Northlane's album, this new track was inspired by a recent painful event in Shawn's life as he explains:
“Just after we finished Psycho, I got the shingles and found myself in a lot of pain... I wasn’t able to function normally for several weeks.”
During Shawn's recovery period, he ended up conceiving ‘Through The Night’ while rugged up in bed:
“It was quite debilitating. All I could do is lay in bed and write music on my laptop. I kept telling myself to ride through the pain and in time it will get better which found its home as the theme of the song.”
Making the most of a difficult situation has resulted in the band's next batch of tunes which drummer Joel Barrueto sneakily revealed with be genre-crossing surprise for new and old fans:
“I’m really excited for people to hear our vision come to life, somewhere between arena rock, metal and djent with some more psychedelic colourful moments. It’s a fun combination.”
