LUNE Tackle Mental Health Head-On with ‘EXIT’

It’s no secret LUNE are fast becoming hot property in Australia’s heavy music scene following the release of their stellar Ghost EP last year (our review here) and consequent shows and support slots they’ve popped up on recently. But now, they’re taking control of their destiny and showing us what they’ve been working on since, with the release of their new single ‘EXIT‘ which is a powerful and confronting track about mental health struggles.

Krys Smith (Guitarist/Composer) took some time out to explain the hard-hitting lyrical content with us, exclusively revealing:

“Exit as a whole is a pretty confronting take on how dark the world can become when you’re in the throes of your own mental health. Feeling as if there’s nothing left, or no other option than to leave is a point that no one wants to see their loved ones come to. For myself, this track was incredibly hard to produce and shoot, being that it centres around a family members personal experience. By shedding some light on the issue in such a confronting way, we’re hoping we can encourage friends, family, and even colleagues of those affected to simply sit down and listen. Let the people you care about know they matter.”

It’s no secret we here at Wall of Sound are strong advocates of all things mental health awareness and support and feel that the musicians and bands we listen to, help us understand what’s going on and remind us that we’re not alone in these battles.

If you or anyone you know needs help with their own mental well-being call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636 or find your closest Suicide Prevention/Crisis Support Organisation on Google…

As for the musical progression side of things, the band have been honing in on their sound post Ghost EP and are set to take the band next level, upping the ante from their back catalogue and this is the first taste of what we can expect:

“Musically Exit is a track we had been waiting to put out for a little while. It was one of the first tracks I felt us starting to really get comfortable with where we were headed as a band, and our process. Working with Buster and Jamie again just seemed to be a no brainer. They’re both at the top of their game, as well as being great people. I can’t wait to get out and play this track to as many people as possible!”

And you won’t be waiting long, the lads have announced two headline shows for fans to get along to and if they’re anything like the gigs we’ve covered in the past, you’re gonna wanna sell a body part to get in!
