Perth metalcore rising stars Patient Sixty-Seven may be gearing up to write the follow-up to their special edition release, Home Truths right now, but the boys are still keen to keep everyone preoccupied in the meantime. The four piece have dug deep into the band’s music vault from their Imbalance Redux EP in 2020 and revealed ‘The Ken Burns Effect’.
The new song provides a magnificent contrast between heavy and melodic, paired together with high-energy riffs and an anthemic breakdown. Vocalist Tom Kiely shared with us why it was time this song saw the light of day:
“‘The Ken Burns Effect’ is a song we’ve wanted to release for a while. As apart of the Imbalance Redux release from last year and the cool response we received from that – we really wanted to do a third song to follow up that effort. We think it shows a heavier side of the band and our growth over the years.
When writing it, I just wanted to speak on the struggle of battling against your own mental health. Putting everything on the line, finding a light at the end of the tunnel and believing that you’ll have the strength to get through to the other side. It’s a song our band is really proud of, and we hope you enjoy it as we get to work on more new music!”
The Patient Sixty-Seven lads are doing wonders for Perth metalcore and this will most definitely tide us over until the new P67 era is unveiled. Keep it up guys — we love what you’re doing!
