When someone tried to describe the alt-rock sound that comes from RADelaide, it’s hard to put it in words but in sounds, Larsen does a pretty bang up job of showcasing what bands from their city do right with their latest single ‘Eating Me Alive‘ which we’re stoked to be bringing to you today.
The high guitar notes and whiney/gravelly vocals of frontman Liam Christensen are addictive and chances are you’ll find yourself hitting replay on the song below (which you’re getting to hear super early FYI) and if you’re an old school Aussie rock fan, growing up with the likes of Gyroscope, Silverchair, Kisschasy and Violent Soho then chances are Larsen will be the lads you’ve been needed in your life, especially since we’ve been lacking a live show to find some new bands in the past year.
On the effects of COVID, drummer Alex Andrews reveals:
“Last year was a hard year for everyone, particularly those in the arts community. Not being able to play shows was the thing that hurt us the most, because we pride ourselves on our live product. The hamstringing of that experience was brutal, so the fact we can not only get out and play shows properly again, but also travel interstate and do it, puts a big smile on our faces! Touring is such a fun part of what it means to be in a band, so we’re glad we can do it again!”
Turn out you won’t have to wait too much longer to catch the foursome in front of you with a single launch show lined up at Jive Bar on the blokiest day of the year, May 8 (Maaaaate) with tickets available now right here. For those of you living interstate, keep your eyes peeled on their socials very very soon!
As for the band’s future? Well, you can rest easy knowing Larsen spent the majority of their COVID lockdown working on new material it seems:
“Most of our time in lockdown was spent, unashamedly, playing video games. If you’re talking about music stuff, however, then we did the only thing we really could do: write. So what’s coming this year is the product of cabin fever-induced songwriting via shitty voice messages on our phones, and we promise the result sounds way better than the process. In fact, we believe it’s our best musical effort to date, and there’s about an EP’s worth of content that we’re super excited to share…”
Looking forward to what’s next lads!
