Veil of Maya Drop New Single ‘Viscera’ And It Absolutely Bangs

Veil of Maya

Our prog-mates in Veil of Maya are back in action with a surprise single ‘Viscera’ coupled with an animated music video. The Chicago band haven’t released an LP since False Idols in 2017. They did release a couple of singles over the last couple of years, including ‘Members Only in September 2019 and ‘Outsider‘ in May 2020. Neither of these tracks were announced as lead-up tracks to a full-length album, however things might be different this time around.

The track ‘Viscera’ itself is pretty massive with heaps of layers thrown in. The song is heavy, with heaps of progressive elements thrown in and feels like one of their best releases in awhile. The vocal effort by Lukas Magyar is pretty noteworthy, as both the cleans and uncleans flow really well with the crunchy riffs and bassy sections. The music video has a bit of a ‘Metalocalypse‘ / desert war style animation to it, which is pretty sick and definitely makes it worth a watch.

Could this be the beginning of a new album campaign for the djent-influenced metalcore band? Nothing on that one yet but we’ll keep you posted if and when more comes to light.
