System Of A Down Unleash Music Video For ‘Genocidal Humanoidz’

System Of A Down - Genocidal Humanoidz

After winding up their massive global livestream, metal maestros System Of A Down finally released their second music video in many years, for ‘Genocidal Humanoidz’.

Those that tuned into the livestream would have been sweating the band hard, and the release of a new music video would have been palpable. Bassist Shavo Odadjian has been teasing the clip for a while, and made sure we knew that he co-directed it, and let us know about the animation.

“By the way, I’m directing the ‘Genocidal Humanoidz’ video with Adam Mason who did (North Kingsley’s) ‘Die For The Pic’ video with me and it’s going to be done soon. There’s going to be a little bit of animation in it, and I’ve already started that part.”

‘Genocidal Humanoidz’ is an intense representation of the band’s efforts to highlight and build awareness to the ongoing Armenian atrocities. Through both this song and ‘Protect the Land’System Of A Down have shone a bright light into a corner of the world that is largely ignored in the media.

The video itself portrays juxtaposition between a very serious performance of the reunited band, as well as an animated narrative of a young boy being confronted by a demonic figure, obviously representing the war-torn landscape in Armenia. The music video for ‘Genocidal Humanoidz’ is understandably intense, and although it’s responses has been musically divisive from fans, the song and video will go down as an important chapter to the System Of A Down journey.
