Wall of Sound presents: “2020 YEAR IN REVIEW” – by Hollow Front’s Tyler Tate

As we wind up our Year in Reviews series we have our final international guest contributor taking part and it’s none other than Tyler Tate from Hollow Front!

The band signed with UNFD in 2020 so it wasn’t all bad news for them, but it did mean their touring plans were cut short. From there, they worked out what was best for the band moving forward and getting their name out their via their music was the next best thing they could do. It’s worked because we’re now well aware of them here in Australia and can’t wait for what they do next!

Until then, revisit 2020 with Tyler’s Year In Review

LAST GIG YOU PLAYED BEFORE COVID

We were lucky enough to open a sold out show for We Came as Romans, The Devil Wears Prada, Gideon, and Dayseeker on WCAR’s ‘To Plant a Seed’ 10 Year Anniversary Tour.

HOW DID COVID/LOCKDOWNS AFFECT YOU/YOUR BAND?

COVID forced us to adapt very quickly. With our original plan for 2020 being a sole focus on touring, to build up our reputation on the road, we had to adjust our plans to work for the current times we’re living in. So we released our album Loose Threads, instead of touring, and it was honestly the best decision we could’ve made under the circumstances. A lot of things wouldn’t have happened for us, if our year had gone as originally planned. So COVID has been both a blessing and a curse for us.

BIGGEST THING YOU LEARNED ABOUT YOURSELF IN 2020

I realized more than ever that music is my calling. The loss of playing shows and touring this year has left a very deep hole in my life. And you never really understand just how much something means to you until it’s taken away without warning. I feel for all my brothers and sisters in the industry that have been affected by COVID and can’t wait for the day to come when we can all get back on those stages where we belong.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO IN 2021?

Getting back on the road with my brothers, doing what we love most and fulfilling our purpose in this life.
