Wall of Sound presents: “2020 YEAR IN REVIEW” – by LOSER’s Tim Maxwell

LOSER continued their climb up Australia’s alt-rock scene with the release of their album Mindless Joy in 2020 (our review here). Despite COVID getting in their way of extensive touring, they’ve been working hard on new material (including standalone singleUpside Down‘) and will bounce back in 2021.

Until then, check out vocalist/guitarist Tim Maxwell‘s 2020 Year in Review...

TOP 5 RELEASES OF 2020?

5. Ugly Is Beautiful – Oliver Tree
4. Ball Park Music – ST
3. King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard – KG
2. Violent Soho – Everything Is A-OK
1. DMAS – The Glow

TOP SONG OF 2020?

Yungblud – ‘Strawberry Lipstick’

BEST MUSIC VIDEO OF 2020?

Code Orange – ‘Swallowing The Rabbit Whole’

LAST GIG YOU PLAYED BEFORE COVID?

Played at The Tote Hotel with Violent Soho, it was mental!

HOW DID COVID AFFECT YOU/YOUR BAND?

It definitely took its toll right as we released Mindless Joy. It was unfortunate but every artist has gone through the same thing this year so we chose to become stronger and ended up recording new music from my home studio built during lockdown. Onwards and upwards.

BIGGEST THING YOU LEARNED ABOUT YOURSELF IN 2020?

That it doesn’t hurt to be who you truly are and I learnt this by spending so much time in isolation. Be who you want to be and don’t let anything or anyone get in your way, it’s your life at the end of the day and it is so precious.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO IN 2021?

Not wearing a mask and playing heaps of shows with heaps of legends.
