Not going to lie here, one of the biggest gigs I was looking forward to was seeing SKYND‘s Australian debut at Download Festival (I was even keener than My Chem‘s comeback to be honest) but sadly COVID took that away from us and from there, the band got stuck into writing new material to accompany their back catalogue of True Crime Music!
They managed to release a new song (AND EPIC VIDEO) called ‘Columbine‘ alongside rapper Bill $aber, which was, as you may have already guessed, based upon the Columbine High School Massacre back in 1999. This is what SKYND do best, they take real life crime stories and retell them through their lyrics and heavy synth instrumentals. They’re definitely a band you shouldn’t be sleeping on anymore and we were stoked to find out SKYND said yes to doing one of our Year In Reviews… Here’s what happened to her in 2020 and the music she loved!

LAST GIG YOU PLAYED BEFORE COVID?
The European Tour with Babymetal. Our last show was on 17th Feb at O13 in Tilburg.
HOW DID COVID AFFECT YOU/YOUR BAND?
We couldn’t do what we planned because of Covid 19. It was very hard to produce videos because of social distancing. We would have liked to make more, but unfortunately our hands were tied. For the same reasons, it was also very difficult to rehearse.
However, the two of us were able to withdraw a lot to the Dark Place to write songs. We had a lot of time to write new songs thanks to Covid
BIGGEST THING YOU LEARNED ABOUT YOURSELF IN 2020?
This year, my patience was sorely tested. Patience is not one of my virtues.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO IN 2021?
Playing live again, standing on stage.
