The 2021 (Heavy) Grammy Nominees Are Here!

As Australia prepares for our very own musical awards night tonight (lol the ARIAs), over in the US, they’ve just announced the GRAMMY Nominees for their 2021 event, which is being held on January 31st and, as always, we’re letting you know which heavy/rock bands scored an omm nom nom and who we think will take it out!

Best Metal Performance

This time around we’ll see the likes of Body Count (‘Bum-Rush’), Code Orange (‘Underneath’), In This Moment (‘The In-Between’), Poppy (‘Bloodmoney’) and Power Trip (Executioner’s Tax (Swing The Axe) – Live’) battling it our for a gold doorstopper! In previous years, Tool won the award in 2020 and High On Fire scored it in 2019!

Power Trip‘s nomination shines a massive light on the band as well following the passing of frontman Riley Gale back in August. The heavy music community mourned the loss of one of their own and to see their name in the list is a great nod to the late and great frontman! Hopefully, the award night organisers see the error of their ways by not including heavy musicians from their In Memorium feature and rectify it with Riley and his fellow peers we’ve also lost over the past year.

My Prediction: This time I reckon Body Count will take it out, but I’d love to see Code Orange get the gong for their hard work over the past few years and their latest album UNDERNEATH was just so schmick!

Annnd that’s all that was worth a mention this year. No BMTH, no Fever 333, no Parkway Drive, no Aussie bands (bar Tame Impala) scored a nomination either, so that’s all you get!
