Machine Gun Kelly’s Deluxe Edition of Tickets to My Downfall is Here!
I don’t know about you, but since its release last Friday, I haven’t been able to stop playing Machine Gun Kelly’s new album, Tickets to My Downfall (our review here). Well, MGK has more surprises up his sleeve. He’s just gone and unleashed a DELUXE edition of Tickets to My Downfall, which includes four brand new tracks, a studio version of his cover of Paramore’s ‘Misery Business’ and a special acoustic version of his smash hit single, ‘Bloody Valentine’. Oh yeah, and he’s also just dropped a music video for ‘Drunk Face’. All of the good stuff!
But let’s get back to these four shimmering new songs he’s treated us to. First up we have yet another collaboration, and it’s I shit you not, just as bloody good as that Halsey collab. ‘Body Bag’ features Yungblud and… The Used frontman Bert McCracken! How this song didn’t make the original tracklisting is beyond me, but fuck it’s an absolute hit. It’s a little more alternative rock and emo, but it packs a punch and we are digging it!
‘Hangover Cure’ and ‘Can’t Look Back’ follow along the same veins of much of the album, with its slower rock riff building into a soaring chorus and borders between pop/rock tendencies. However, ‘Split A Pill’ is the ultimate pop punk break up anthem, with an iconic punky guitar intro reminiscent of your more melodic early 2000’s bands, like Simple Plan and Yellowcard. It kinda goes as hard as ‘Forget Me Too’ too, but on a different level and I find this to be one of my top 3 songs on the album.
Overall, if we wanna call these tracks B-sides, they’ve gotta be the best B-side tracks to an album I’ve ever heard. Tickets To My Downfall (SOLD OUT) is one of the best things to come out of 2020, and I kinda wish international borders weren’t shut because a live concert needs to happen.
