This is heartbreaking but Brisbane’s Stateside have announced they’ll be disbanding after the release of their highly anticipated EP Havøc which is set to drop later in the year. On Thursday we’ll hear our first taste of the end with their new single ‘Low‘ getting released upon the world and I don’t know about you, but we’re devastated here at WoS HQ.
In a lengthy statement the band revealed the news:
We couldn’t be more excited to announce that the music video for our brand new single ‘Low’, taken from our new EP ‘Havøc’, will be available this Thursday.
However, we do have some bittersweet news.
After 6 years of being a band, growing up together & chasing this dream, we have also grown apart & found we all want to go in different directions with our lives, and so with this, Havøc will be our final EP & our final gift to you; the people who have supported us every step of the way. We are forever in your debt and can’t thank each and every one of you enough for this journey we’ve shared together. Whether you’ve just checked us out, been a long time fan, just come to a show, bought a shirt, given us a place to sleep or even just told a friend about us, we can’t thank you enough.
We don’t want this news to be sad, however we want to use this time as a celebration of our new EP ‘Havøc’. The last 6 years of this band has gone into this EP and it is a celebration of all our personal growth & accomplishments. We hope that you love it as much as we do & we can’t for you all to hear it!
This band have been coming up the ranks in Australia’s pop punk scene (they made our Top 15 list earlier this year) and scoring some amazing opportunities in the process. We loved meeting and interviewing them at Big Sound a few years back when they told us about this new music and just seeing them floating about Brisbane at gigs and you better believe we’ll be screaming the words to each song upon release day.
Stay tuned for ‘Low‘ on Thursday…
