State Champs Drop New Single ’10AM’

US pop punk legends State Champs recently announced a new acoustic UNPLUGGED EP reworking songs from their most recent release, Living Proof. But will the acoustic release also include a few new tracks? Of course it will! We already heard the incredibly catchy ‘Crying Out Loud’ last month, and the four-piece have just dropped brand new track ’10am’. Frontman Derek DiScanio claims it’s also one of the most experimental tracks that the band have worked on so far:

10 AM might be the most experimental song we’ve written and recorded. It stemmed from a simple idea to have a mellow, acoustic, feel-good vibe, and mix it with lyrical frustration about questioning your worth in a relationship and unrequited love. We were able to bring in some unique electronic elements in post production to top everything off and we’re excited to see what everyone thinks of the final product.”

It’s a pretty chilled, laid back song about feeling the usual anxieties in a relationship that’s not quite going the way we planned. I think it’ll hit you right in the feels and these lyrics sum it up perfectly:

When will my love just be enough? When will my love not be a crutch?

Ohhhh, be still pop punk hearts. State Champs is back! (like they ever left us ha!). Their UNPLUGGED EP is out August 14th through Pure Noise Records. Pre-order here
