8 Heavy Musicians Who’d Make A Better President Than Kanye West

Dear America, things are a bit messed up over there at the moment and it seems to get worse and worse with every week that progresses… the latest (viral) publicity stunt is that Kanye West is going to run for President this year (something he hinted he’d be doing back in 2016) and as much as this is nothing but a publicity ploy for new music (I guarantee he’ll be dropping an album by the end of the year), it’s a scary thought to think that he’d be a potential to run the country…

However, to throw a spanner in the works, I thought about some members of the heavy music community who’d be fantastic potential Presidents should they choose to divert from the music scene for a couple of years and below are 8 Heavy Musicians Who’d Make A Better President Than Kanye West… as chosen by me!

#8 – Dez Fafara from DevilDriver/ex-Coal Chamber

Outspoken. Opinionated. Assertive. Vegan.

With a career spanning 34 years, Dez has seen a lot and been a lot and during that time he’s certainly gained a lot of fo life experiences to show for it + he’s a vegan and has spoken out about this quite openly and how it has the potential to change the world/environment. He’s also one scary looking mofo that I can assure you, no other county’s leader would ever be game to challenge!

#7 – Lzzy Hale from Halestorm

Do women belong in the white house? Abso-fucking-lutely and with such an influential woman in music like Lzzy, shit will not only get done, but it’ll get done now! A firm supporter of women’s rights and an engaging frontwoman, she knows how to work a room and get your attention from the second she opens her mouth. Does the idea of a strong independent woman running the show make you uncomfortable? Good!

#6 – Howard Jones from Light The Torch/ex-Killswitch Engage

Howard Jones has this aura about him that screams leadership! Whether he’s fronting Light The Torch or even back in his Killswitch Engage days, the man talks truths, isn’t afraid to touch on important subjects like mental health struggles and suicide prevention and he leaves you with a sense of belonging when you hear his bellowing screams or even his alluring clean vocals. So when this man talks, you know everyone will be listening.

#5 – Andy Marsh from Thy Art Is Murder

Fun Fact: Andy is actually from Hawaii and spends the majority of his time with his family in the United States (when he’s not touring with Aussie deathcore outfit Thy Art Is Murder) so he’s more than acceptable for the role of President of the United States. He’s also the key songwriter for TAIM’s banger anthems and isn’t afraid to direct your attention to what’s wrong with the world (not to mention America itself), so if you’d want to vote for someone willing to make a change in the world, who isn’t afraid to speak the truth, go no further than Andy! Plus, as an added bonus, he’s already got the perfect theme song for a potential campaign as seen below!

#4 – Andrew W.K.

It’s no secret the past 4 years in America has been a wild ride with so much drama going on with Mr Orange in the top spot, so as a way to change the vibe a bit, you could put forth the King of Partying to lift the spirits of the USA for a few years, to bring everyone back together living harmoniously, before getting back to business.

#3 – Corey Taylor

A Vote for Corey Taylor gets you three different types of Presidents in one! The first is a business/family man and father figure role model that Americans can look up to as one of the best representations for how to be a kind, loving Dad. The second is an assertive, thought-provoking and emotionally driven guy like he is fronting Stone Sour, writing lyrics that get you thinking about bettering and understanding yourself better. The last is a brutal screaming madman from Slipknot hellbent on making change with a few scary masks to get his point across… Kinda like how your Mum used to tell you to clean up your room, only for you to ignore her until the rage within came out and you cleaned that shit like there was no tomorrow!

#2 – Jason Aalon Butler from Fever 333

You want a President who stands up for the minorities, the injustices of the law and someone who defends human rights on a daily basis, go no further than Fever 333‘s Jason Aalon Butler who will not stop until the corruption and bullshit ways the US has taken advantage of People Of Colour is rectified, even if it takes him screaming all day and climbing anything/everything in sight to get his point across. In a short amount of time, this guy has gone from metalcore frontman to the new age guerilla leader for fighting for what’s right in the world and, when he’s not angry/yelling at everyone, he’s a kind and loving father so you get both ends of the personality spectrum in one handy location.

#1 – Tom Morello

This man needs no introduction but strangely, on an almost weekly basis, people are questioning this world famous activist’s integrity and think he should just stick to music. Well, he’s a Harvard University honours graduate in Political Science, is a co-founder of Axis of Justice alongside System of a Down‘s Serj Tankian which aims to bring the music industry and fans together to fight for social justice, he attends almost any/every public driven political protests, has attended Occupy Wall Street, LA, Chicago, San Francisco, is a family man, father of three children and performed in stacks of World-Class Bands (including Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave and Prophets of Rage to name a few) where he constantly spruiks his beliefs and messages any time he’s on stage. This is literally just a small snap-shot of what this icon has done/achieved throughout the 41 years he’s been making music to make us all think, I’d be here all day listing his accomplishments so if you don’t believe a word I’m saying, do your own research and educate yourself, then go thrash some RATM and let it all out!

I think we can all agree that this man is the most worthy candidate for the top job of the President of the United States and while we know that he would be too busy for the job, if for some reason he decided to take part, he’d be sooooo much better suited for the position that any/all of the current candidates getting about OR announcing their intentions to run for publicity.

One thing is for sure, to our American readers, if you want change, only YOU have the power so get out there and make sure your vote counts. The rest of the world is watching on, hoping you’ll make the right choice as it’ll affect all of us.
