Fall Into Forever with In Deception's Hard-Hitting New Single!
Melbourne alternative/rock outfit In Deception are set to bring on a new wave of melodic rock into the musical stratosphere with their brand new single 'Forever // Always'. Featuring a blend of hard-hitting riffs, breakdowns and a rap-style verse, the five-piece are fusing together elements from Linkin Park, Story of the Year and A Day To Remember, resulting in an anthem of utmost defiance. This song is bound to throw you back to the days when Transformers had an epic movie soundtrack.
We are all for this fresh new sound of heavy in 2020, so we caught up with the band to get to know them a little more, the band's new single and even a throwback to when live music was a thing.
What’s up guys! First up, can you tell us who In Deception are and how you came to be?
We’re 5 mates that met in high school and bonded over our mutual love of bad haircuts and heavy music.
Your new single ‘Forever // Always’ is an explosive combo of melodic post-hardcore and hip hop - it’s very Linkin Park! Can you tell us what was the inspiration behind the song?
We draw inspiration from everywhere we can. I believe one big part of our sound comes from the band liking different genres and sub-genres of music, and the final result of each song, is a collection of all our ideas coming together.
Well, I guess that's why to me, your music is just calling out for a mad multi-genre collab. who would you love to hook up with on a future song one day?
That’s such a loaded question, I guess if it was to make a fun track I would say Linkin Park or another band with a similar style. But if the aim were to make a new sound, I’d love to hear us with some one like Lorde, U2 or Spice Girls. Imagine “Spice Up Your Life” with a nasty breakdown.
I can envision that in my mind now! With 'Forever // Alway' being the second single you’ve dropped this year (following Epidemic back in February), when can we expect an EP to drop?
We had plans of releasing an EP late this year but everything got pushed back due to Covid. But with that being said, there is something in the works.
With everything happening in the world right now, I bet you’re all pumped to get back on the road playing shows when the time comes. But let’s go back down memory lane for a sec - what’s the best show you’ve played so far and why?
That’s a tough one. One show that stands out was our first time playing a mini-festival called Heavy AF. All the local bands were super tight and there was a real sense of community between the bands and the crowd, a really fun day. That was also the first time I had the crowd singing the words back at me, which is really weird when you’re not expecting it.
Which city in Australia are you hoping to play in once restrictions lift?
We haven’t played in Sydney yet, so that’ll be the place we’ve got our sights on.
Anything else you wanna tell us? Band secrets?
Drink more water and get plenty of fruit and veg in your diet.
Right on! Look after yourself boys! Keen to hear more of your heavy jams soon...
