Here at Wall of Sound HQ, we’re loving all the new age pop cover songs by the alternative/rock/metal scene, from Fame On Fire’s take on The Weeknd to Our Last Night’s various Billie Eilish covers. Last week, we covered 10 cover songs that are as good/better than the original, and today we’re adding a last minute, honorary member to that collection!
UK power pop/punk outfit Hot Milk are building music cred with their sugar-coated, highly infectious brand of pop punk (honestly, check out their debut EP, Are You Feeling Alive if you haven’t already) and this weekend they dropped another banger. The four-piece have taken a track off Dua Lipa’s latest album, Future Nostalgia (which is a great pop album already) and put their own fun Hot Milk spin on the track ‘Physical’. The band gives the song more of a cyber-punk feel, with the heavy rock elements driving the track into something else. Vocalists Jim Shaw and Han Mee are killing it too with their dual vocal game they’re so well known for.
If you dug this cover by Hot Milk, I absolutely recommend getting ahold of the band’s original tracks, like ‘June Gloom’ and ‘Candy Coated Lies’, which prove that this UK four-piece are well worth keeping an eye on!
