Yours Truly Keep Their Cool On New Single 'Composure'
UNFD pop punk quartet Yours Truly amazed us last year with their debut EP Afterglow (our review here), and it seems the world also cannot get enough of this striking, young Sydney act. The four-piece have accepted offers to play UK's Slam Dunk Festival (postponed to September) and Sad Summer Fest in the US (still going ahead, but we'll see how that pans out).
Now we have the band's first new music since Afterglow, and it's a single full of attitude and continues the band's highly infectious brand of pop punk. 'Composure' captures that feeling of anxiety oh-so perfectly when you're feeling frustrated as fuck over a shitty person. Frontwoman Mikaila Delgado explains she felt inspired by a former flame last year:
"'Composure' is about trying to keep your cool at the end of a relationship and how difficult it can be. It’s natural to be upset, angry and a million different other emotions at once. I wrote it at a time when I really needed to reclaim my self worth after losing so much of it, I was over being miserable waiting for acceptance."
Spot on, Mikaila. I'm sure we've all experienced this before. Never let go of your self worth over someone not willing to accept who you truly are.
Meanwhile, is there a full-length to come from Yours Truly? Nothing's set in stone yet, but as always we'll let you know first if there is!
