Melbourne metalcore act, Advocates are back and ready for the next phase of their music career with brand new single ‘Abaddon’. The song is an explosive, riff-heavy track that dives into one’s mental state. When you hear what vocalist Detlyn Reven has to say about this track, you can definitely feel the emotional story behind the song:
“Abaddon is a dark tale about one man’s struggle with his mental state and his subsequent decline into madness. The protagonist is convinced he is a conduit for the devil and his purpose is to oversee the devastation and destruction of the inhabitants of earth. After wrestling with his thoughts, he decides to take his own life instead where he is banished to Abaddon (The Realm of the Dead) to live out the rest of his days.”
To put a sad spin on things on this new chapter for the band, ‘Abaddon’ is the final release for current vocalist Detlyn Reven, who has been an integral member of the band since their relocation from Auckland to Melbourne. His final gig with Advocates will be the ‘Abaddon’ Single Launch Show at Stay Gold, Melbourne on December 21st.
We wish Detlyn all the best in his future endeavours and the best of luck with Advocates in finding a new vocalist who’ll have some pretty big shoes to fill. We’ll keep you posted on when that happens…
