Grinspoon's Phil Jamieson Talks Australian Survivor Contestant Rumours
Australian Survivor 2019 has come to an end (and what a disappointing result right!?) anyway, one musician who we'd KILL to see on the next season is Grinspoon frontman (and superfan) Phil Jamieson who back in 2018, was rumoured to appear on the Champions team, however scheduling conflicts got in the way as he explains to us in this week's forthcoming episode of Wall of Sound: Up Against The Wall:
"There was whispers that came up last year [for the season] Champions vs Contenders, but I was on White Album [tour] and I guess the planets didn't align, and I look at the actual show and I'm like 'it is so hard!'. I can't swim, I can't run, I can't tackle, I'm terrible at puzzles, I've got no sense of direction... So essentially I'd be really really bad at it I think and I'm really annoying as well so I reckon I'd be a terrible person to be stuck with, but I like the idea of it."
"In theory yeah, in practice I'd be a hot mess on there. Maybe that's what they want I don't know but I'm a massive fan of Survivor, I think it's awesome..." - Phil Jamieson on his chances of appearing on the show.

But what skills would he bring to the game that could possibly see him taking it out? Podcast host Browny reckons he'd have a great social game that could take him to the end, but Phil begs to differ:
"[laughs] look on my social game, I don't know how well it'd be if I was hungry and tired though. I might be really quite not great to be around. As I said it's great in theory but I don't know many musicians that'd do it either... But it'd be nice to see someone from the arts get out there."
He makes a good point though, it would be great to see someone from the music industry giving it a crack in their "off-season" so to say, but, as Browny jokingly mentioned, maybe they're best suited to something like I'm A Celebrity Get Me Outta Here, a recommendation Phil Jamieson was not having a bar of:
"Oh fuck that!"
