Attendance for even the opener was solid especially for Newcastle on a Sunday night. The Wandering brought their A-game with the bullshit heavies, getting the crowd super pumped and ready for the touring acts. Diamond Construct blew me away with their insanely tight set just improving time and time again every time I see them play. Jam-packed with bangers such as ‘Night Terrors‘, ‘Hypno‘ and even closing with ‘Submerged‘ which seemed to be a fan favourite. The audience jumping up and down bouncing around, moshing, anything that involved a lot of movement, it was awesome.

Chelsea Grin smashed all expectations, they’re the tightest deathcore band I’ve ever seen and even though they were all run down from just finishing a crazy USA tour, they still gave it their everything. I still don’t know how Pablo (drummer) can play so technical and perform vocals at the same time and nail both! Mixing the set up with most tracks from their latest album Eternal Nightmare along with some classics like ‘My Damnation’ & ‘Playing With Fire’ , of course ending the set with ‘Recreant‘, as vocalist Tom Barber said to me before their set “We have to play Recreant it’s not Chelsea Grin unless we play that song” which personally I was stoked on. In between songs Tom spoke about how this is his first time ever being in Australia, he was able to pat kangaroos and Koalas then proceeded to hop around on the stage like a Kangaroo, something I was most certainly not expecting.

I don’t know a lot about Born Of Osiris but one thing I do know is they know how to put on a hell of a show god damn. The 5 piece progressive metalcore act had the crowd still filled with so much energy. A band with 2 vocalists is always a good time to watch, especially with the chemistry of Ronnie & Joe (who also plays the keys to add that tech aspect to their sound). They even busted out a fan favourite ‘Machines’ with a powerful performance.
