If you’ve been following our coverage of Gravemind for a while now, none of this will be a huge surprise to you, but if not, let’s take you back. Firstly, the boys are Greyscale Records‘ most recent signing which was revealed earlier this week. Secondly, they’ve unveiled the title of their forthcoming album which will be called Conduit and is set for release on July 19th.
Thirdly, they’ve released their new track ‘Volgin‘ which the band gave us a sneak peek at when we discussed their yet to be announced album back in January when we caught up with them at UNIFY Gathering. Frontman Dylan Gillies-Parsons says the song is about:
“…being alone in the way you see the world. Instead of finding ways to pacify yourself, or conform to others beliefs; it’s about going against the grain, in search of meaning. No matter how much it hurts, no matter how alone you feel, it’s about realising your true potential by doing the one thing we so rarely do – listen to what our soul is telling us”.
When we discussed how the band write their songs (e.g. lyrics or music first) they revealed to us that:
“Sometimes you’ll write a song and it’s very apparent what it’s about while you’re writing it… There’s a few songs on there, one called ‘Phantom Pain’, I think ‘Volgin’ as well, it kind of wrote itself in a couple of hours.”
Lay your eyes and ears on the new offering below and if you’re keen as fuck (like Gravemind superfan Darcy Lock) then chuck a pre-order for the new release right here. Also, catch the band on tour with Make Them Suffer next month!
