What's better than one Devin Townsend tour? Two of course!
According to the metal man himself when he spoke with our very own writer Simon Valentine earlier in the week, it seems there are two tours on the way for Australian fans, an acoustic tour and a full-blown band tour.
During the interview, Devin stated:
Well, there’ll be two types of touring I’m going to do. First off, I’ve been doing these acoustic shows which work because it allows me to strip my material back to its most basic form. I think it kind of proves that even without the orchestras, backing tracks, choirs and all that stuff – it’s still me, it’s still who I am.
And by doing the acoustic shows as well it bides me time to put together the next band, and then the next tour that I’ll do down in Australia – I’ll probably do a bunch of the acoustic runs – and then the actual tour that I’ll do will be with a whole new group of people that are actually from a whole different scene in a lot of ways and it will be a combination of Empath, back catalogue – a lot of things.
But we’re starting with the acoustic runs and I think it should be announced there pretty quick.
We broke the news about one of his tours (being an East Coast run), which is still yet to be announced to this day, however, that could be for the select acoustic shows he mentioned and the full band run could be coming down the track later, whether that be this year or into 2020. Neither tour has been announced as of yet though so stay tuned. Once we know, you'll know within minutes.
As an early prediction though, the two tours could be the aforementioned acoustic run and then a festival slot(with sideshows e.g. Good Things Festival with his full band. That would explain two visits in such a short amount of time right!?
