If you didn’t know it yet, our staff reach has spread all the way up to Australia’s top end in Darwin (shout out to Tam!) and we’re so bloody stoked because it’s given us the opportunity to let our frizzy hair down, get around in double pluggers and shorts and check out some of the Northern Territory’s best-kept secrets, including the post-hardcore five-piece We Burn Bridges.
The guys have allowed us to premiere their brand new single ‘Self Drought‘ from their forthcoming EP Head Prison which is set for release on May 17th. On the subject of the new track, frontman Jack Ryan explained:
“Self Drought for the most part is about my struggle with addiction… not necessarily addiction to drugs or alcohol but the nature of addiction and how I can become fixated on things that aren’t healthy for me. Writing this song helped me put things into perspective and get through a bit of a rough time. No one is ever alone, there is always help out there and I hope people are inspired to find that after hearing this track.”
And he’s not wrong you know, addiction can be anything from the above mentioned to social media, shopping, vinyl collecting (its real kids) and we need to be self aware of what’s going on before we can address the issues at hand. The song is great combining both clean and screaming vocals and a heavy sound guaranteed to get them a few more fans in the process.
Take a listen and check the guys out on Facebook
If you happen to be in Darwin on April 5th, they’re playing a show too!
