Its Official: Ozzy Osbourne cancels Download Festival Australia appearances on strict doctors orders

We’ve been on Ozzy Osbourne watch for a while now due to complications surrounding his health which saw him cancel performances from his American tour, his entire European Tour and his appearance at Download Festival JAPAN but now the big news has officially hit us, he’ll no longer be able to make his appearances in Australia for Download Festival 2019, where he was supposed to be headlining due to doctors orders who have said he needs at least six weeks to recover.

The news was confirmed via Festival Organisers who stated:

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Grammy®-winning singer and songwriter Ozzy Osbourne has announced that he must, unfortunately, cancel shows in Australia, New Zealand and Japan. This follows news of the postponement of the entire UK and European leg of his NO MORE TOURS 2 tour on doctors’ orders.

It is impossible to replace Ozzy Osbourne at any time, but three weeks out from Download there is no chance of us securing an act to replace the headline slot.

Sharon Osbourne also added

“Ozzy recently developed pneumonia and has spent some time in hospital. Thankfully he is now through the worst part, his doctors have advised that he stay at home to recuperate for a full six weeks with no travel,”

But it’s not all bad news, joining the lineup will be Australia’s Airbourne all the way from Warrnambool and taking over the world like they’ve been doing so well, scoring praise internationally from fans and critics alike.

In regards to refunds etc Download Festival added:

In lieu of Ozzy’s cancellation, we will also offer all current ticket holders a merchandise voucher to the value of $45 plus postage and handling available from our online shop at 24hundred.net from9am AEDT Monday 4 March 2019. Ticket holders must enter their ticket number to redeem the voucher. This voucher is only redeemable online and cannot be redeemed at the event. Voucher is valid for the full Official Event Merchandise range.

This merchandise voucher offer will not be available to new ticket purchasers, only those who have purchased tickets prior to the cancellation announcement on Monday 18 February midday.
