Wall of Sound presents: “2018 YEAR IN REVIEW” – by Wall of Sound loyal reader Mark Tagg
Hi I’m Mark from Perth. This year in music has been a strange one, on the one hand, it’s great to see rock music festivals starting to grow again, but sucks that it’ll be years if at all that they’ll come over to us fans in Perth. I finally got to see Powertrip after discovering them last year and wasn’t disappointed, if you don’t at least nod your head when they kick into a song we can’t be friends! New EP’s from Code Orange & Fever 333 really made me excited for next year when both will release albums. The surprise album of the year for me was the Dee Snider album For the love of Metal I preordered this album just to support the fact Jamie Jasta (Hatebreed) produced and help write the album. I wasn’t expecting to much but was blown away when I pressed play on the CD! Such a great fun metal album. Anyway here’s what else caught my attention this year for Wall of Sound’s 2018 Year In Review…

5 Black Peaks – All That Divides
TOP 5 SONGS OF 2018?
1. Code Orange feat. Corey Taylor – ‘The Hunt’
2. Code Orange – ‘3 Knives’
3. Fever 333 – ‘Made An America’
4. Slipknot – ‘All Out Life’
5. Turnstile- ‘Generator’
BEST MUSIC VIDEO OF 2018?
Slipknot – ‘All Out Life’
BEST GIG YOU’VE SEEN 2018?
Easy, Parkway Drive, HBF Stadium, Perth. Absolute next level from Parkway finally bringing what the rest of the world have been enjoying since the release their new album. Great to see them really stepping up and making a play to take over the festival headline slots now the old generation of bands are slowly disappearing.
NEXT BIG BAND TO WATCH IN 2019?
Code Orange. New album should be coming out in 2019 and I predict they’ll land the main support slot on the Slipknot tour when it happens which will give them massive exposure.
FAV BAND YOU DISCOVERED IN 2018
Not discovered many new bands this year apart from Stick To Your Guns who aren’t really a new band but hey I’ve only just discovered them with the release of their new album.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO IN 2019?
The fact so many of my favourite bands are due to release new albums & yes Tool is one of them!!
