Bring Me The Horizon issue statement following the death of a fan at their London show
Devastating news to wake up to from London with reports coming out that a young Bring Me The Horizon fan has died at the band’s Sold Out Alexandra Palace show which was held on November 30th. The band tweeted their reaction to the news stating:
Words cannot express how horrified we are feeling this evening after hearing about the death of a young man at our show last night. Our hearts and deepest condolences go out to his family and loved ones at this terrible time.
Whilst it still hasn’t been determined what caused the young fan, known only as ‘Ali’, in an investigation is underway to determine what went wrong. The venue also released their own statement on Twitter saying:
“A medical incident occurred at last night’s Bring Me The Horizon concert. Our thoughts and condolences are with the individual’s family and we would like to express our deepest sympathy to them.”
The venue’s capacity can hold about 10,400 people, however the area in front of the stage if left open with no barriers through the middle, similar to what they do at music festivals to ease surging. Many fans have taken to Twitter to share their experiences with the venue, some stating that there wasn’t enough security working to accommodate the number of attendees
It was so mad last night! The entire place was just so rough. The venue need to sort out their security! 10 main people for 10k people!

there were 9 security guards in a venue full of 10,000 people. that's one security guard for every 1,111.1 people. adequate security could have saved this man's life.

I was there and in the pit the whole gig. It was pretty mad but nothing seemed too bad, and I didn't see anyone badly hurt. There were a few 'mass falls', one of which I was stuck right under, which was scary. Had no idea that this happened though, so sad

Many media sites including Metal Injection are reporting that SHVPES vocalist Griffin Dickinson (son of Iron Maiden‘s Bruce Dickinson) tweeted about the incident (before deleting them) revealing:
“Last night at a BMTH show I saw a kid die. He was carried out by 3 dudes & paramedics tried to resuscitate him to no avail. Please please please look out for people around you.”
In another deleted tweet he addressed more about the incident adding:
“Please please please look out for people around you. Don’t leave it up for someone else. If someone looks unwell, CHECK on them. In any situation, on a tube, at a gig, whatever. I feel like British ‘awkwardness’ gets in the way of helping people. Don’t be afraid to call an ambulance. Don’t act like it ain’t your business. ACT on it. Rest in peace to that dude. Thoughts are with his family rn.”
