Wall of Sound proudly presents the monthly feature, The Vinyl Odyssey! Welcome to Part 3. What at first appeared to be an upcoming stingy month for wax has been flipped on it's head in recent days with a host of uncovered sought after re-releases helping buff up a bonza Christmas period for those inclined on spinning wax. Volbeat, Slipknot, Ghost, Opeth, Trivium, there is a heap too contemplate spending some coin on. So grab a coffee or ice cold brew and scan over these tantalising offerings and don't forget you can hit us up on Twitter or Instagram and we’ll do our best to provide more coverage to your specific requests and answer any questions on anything vinyl. Feel free to offer suggestions on upcoming releases or re-issues.

Angels & Airwaves - We Don't Need to Whisper
Release Date: December 1
Two re-releases from AVA are coming early next month, unfortunately I-Empire is already SOLD OUT on pre-order. But, act quickly and you can still snaffle We Don't Need to Whisper on vinyl pressed with Pink/Blaze haze coloring with the D side etched housed in a high gloss gatefold jacket and a 11" x 22" insert. Nightwish - End of An Era
Release Date: December 7
To celebrate the gold nomination in Germany, Finnish symphonic metal band, Nightwish will re-release their 2006 epic, End of An Era album. The album will be released in several vinyl formats including regular black, a violet sparkle that is limited to 500, a stone effect exclusive from Nuclear Blast Records or a stunning trio of blue, lilac and purple. The album is a 3LP edition and features a deluxe remake with alternative cover artwork and 20 page booklet.

Metal Church - Damned If You Do
Release Date: December 7
Californian metal legends, Metal Church release album number 12 in December, Damned If You Do. Cast on double vinyl, it comes in regular black, and a killer red edition in gatefold sleeve, limited to 500.

CJ Ramone - Christmas Lullaby
Release Date: December 7
This is only a single release on 7” but Christmas is coming and how could we not tie in something around the fetivities approaching. Punk icon, CJ Ramone is set to release Christmas Lullaby on December 7th, a two-song release available digitally and on vinyl. The A-side is an original, and the B-side is a cover of The Kink’s ‘Father Christmas.’ It’s cheap as chips too, get it via Fat Wreck Chords here.

Ghost - Infestissumam and Meliora
Release Date: December 7
With Download Festival Australia creeping upon us it’s time you wrapped your ears around Ghost. As they say, “If you have Ghost, you have everything”, and these two re-issues set for release December 7 are super limited and almost sold out. Grab now via Nuclear Blast. These issues are both Swedish versions (not in language dumbfucks!) with Infestissumam pressed on a clear brown vinyl and Meliora on a red/white swirl. Numbers for the variants are not available but rest assured they are super limited and our friends at Discogs will provide numbers as soon as available. Order here.

Trivium – Ascendancy, Shogun, The Crusade and In Waves
Release Date: December 14
This is probably the must-have vinyl selection to track down for next month or put at the very top of your Christmas wish list. Trivium are finally releasing four of their back catalogue albums on vinyl for the first time. What’s more impressive is that all four will come with a colour pressing Shogun (red) , Ascendancy (orange) , In Waves (clear) and The Crusade (electric blue), and available in a 4-package deal via our friends at Maniacs here.

Slipknot - All Hope Is Gone
Release Date: December 14
Yo Maggots! Slipknot’s, All Hope Is Gone turns ten this year and to celebrate the band are re-releasing the album in special packaging that includes a live set from New York. Details on the vinyl release and the pressing is all hush hush at the moment however you only have a few hours left to order! Once that clock clicks over on the website – it’s all gone (so to speak!). Order here with a bit of faith in that what they deliver will be spectacular as always.

Dio - Finding the Sacred Heart (Live in Philly 1986)
Release Date: December 14
Sacred Heart is the third album by heavy metal legends DIO, originally released in 1985. It is one of DIO's most well-known albums, and includes popular singles such as ‘Sacred heart’, ‘Rock 'n' Roll children’ and ‘Hungry for heaven’, all featured on this live album. Finding the Sacred Heart – Live in Philly 1986 was filmed at The Spectrum in Philadelphia on June 17, 1986 during the second leg of the "Sacred Heart" tour, which featured new guitarist Craig Goldy. This re-release comes pressed on a beautiful double clear vinyl.

Motörhead - Box of Magic
Release Date: December 14
Böx of Magic, is a special edition Vinyl box-set containing The Wörld is Yours on white vinyl, Clean your Clock with special pop-up art sleeve, Bad Magic silver picture disc and Aftershock. These immense aural Motörstatements will come in a deluxe packaged complete with a 64 cm x 64 cm poster. Motörhead fans rejoice, this is a great summation of the more recent releases, all packaged beautifully with limited variants. Grab it at Nuclear Blast for a very reasonable price here.

Mercyful Fate – 9, Into the Unknown and Dead Again
Release Date: December 14
Mercyful Fate continue their run of re-released picture discs, with three further albums (9, Into the Unknown and Dead Again) getting the eye candy vinyl production. All presented on 180 gram pressing, they are available from Indie Merch here, or again, Nuclear Blast has them available from December 14.

Kreator - Dying Alive
Release Date: December 14
Live albums on vinyl are a match made in heaven if done correctly and Kreator’s, Dying Alive, originally released 2013 is getting a coloured variant that is definitely worth scooping for those thrash metal enthusiasts. Recorded in Oberhausen, Germany 2012, the chemistry between the members of the band’s line-up is akin to the type of live harmoniousness seen during their career peak in the late 80’s and early 90’s. This vinyl re-release comes pressed on double LP in a very cool clear/red/orange variant.

Volbeat - Let's Boogie! Live From Telia Parken
Release Date: December 14
Another live vinyl album out next month is from Denmark’s, Volbeat. Spanning an impressive 26 tracks and pressed on 180 gram vinyl, this one is worth forking out the extra dollars for. The album also comes out on bluray, dvd, cd, comes with a cool booklet and the mandatory download code. Special guests on the album include Mille Petrozza, Johan Olsen, Mark “Barney” Greenway, Lars Ulrich, boxer Mikkel Kessler and Danko Jones. Package deals found here. High On Fire - Electric Messiah
Release Date: December 14
High On Fire haven’t wasted anytime re-releasing their album from a few months back, Electric Messiah on a green and black marble double LP. It’s impressive to look at to be honest, but probably one for the Stoner band’s more rabid followers. It’s limited to 1000 copies only. Find it here.
