Killswitch Engage’s Jesse Leach discusses “real heavy” Howard Jones collaboration on forthcoming album

Its no secret Killswitch Engage have teamed up with former frontman Howard Jones on their forthcoming, eighth studio album, but up until recently the band have been pretty tightlipped about what we can expect with the highly anticipated collaboration. That was until we had a chat with current frontman Jesse Leach during his co-hosting spot on Wall of Sound: Up Against The Wall last week where he finally shed some light on what fans can expect with the song thas based upon his relationship with Howard:

“I did write it with him in mind and his new band being called Light The Torch, the analogy of the song is lighting the signal fire, like a distress call and I wrote it about coming together and finding unity and it’s kind of about our friendship now. It happened so strangely”

“He does a verse, I do a verse, we sing the chorus together it’s a real heavy shitkicker”

For those of you who have been living under a rock, Jesse and Howard caught up not too long ago and formed a friendship after clearing the air between them and the rest of the Killswitch guys. Unfortunately, there’s been this line in the sand between fans who pitted the frontmen against each other and they wanted to show everyone there’s no beef between them and that they’re actually good mates now. Jesse also addresses how that first catch up with Howard went during the podcast too revealing:

“Howard made the first move wanting to out to a show we played in Canada. The guys had their own differences to sort out… But it was such a different thing this time around and the fact that I was able to sit with him, one on one, backstage.. without anyone else around… and just talk to him, we totally hit it off within ten/fifteen minutes and realised how much we had in common.”

“I never had any bad blood, I didn’t even know Howard… so for me it was good to see the band bury the hatchet, move on and just let time heal wounds. And the nice surprise out of it is I gained a new friend… so it’s a win/win situation.”

“Why would I hold onto anything if those guys weren’t?”

Which makes perfect sense and at the end of the day, like he said, everyone’s a winner. The band making amends, the frontmen clearing the air and the fans who now have an EPIC song to look forward to on this forthcoming album. Check out the full interview in last week’s podcast right here
