Those Being Jane Lane punks have taken the ‘Next Step’ of their careers…

Punk Rock is alive and well in Australia and one of the fastest rising acts we think you need to get behind is Being Jane Lane from the Gold Coast who not only recently won a place in the VB Hard Yards competition, where they’ll be touring up Australia’s East Coast on a fully funded tour from VB but they’ve also just put out a kick-arse new song called ‘Next Step‘.

Having opened for the likes of Frenzal Rhomb, The BenniesClownsFlangipanis and even scoring a spot on the Dead of Winter Festival (our coverage here) and Big Gay Day here in Brisbane, it seems they’re showing no signs of slowing down, so I grabbed frontwoman Teigan Le Plastrier for a chat about the new track and all that’s happened so far this year…

Congrats on the new punktastic single Teigan, where did the inspiration behind this one come about?

I’m terrible at explaining, but I suppose its inspired by the period of time before you hook up with someone you like

Ah yep, we’ve all been there. Just go for it I say haha You ladies have blown up this year it’s so good to see, have you had a second to stop and look back at it all.

It’s been a weird and wonderful year for us so far. We are so grateful for all the breaks we’ve had this year, we have been working really hard to write songs and play fun shows for everyone, it’s really encouraging to rewarded.

Being Jane Lane‘s ‘Next Step‘ is out now.
Grab it on iTunes or listen via Spotify

What’s been one of the best highlights so far?

New Years w/ CLOWNS, She Cries Wolf and Flangipanis @ Crowbar was a really awesome way to kick it off. Dead of Winter of course is a fun time, we also played Big Gay Day this year which was a massive highlight for us.

Also scoring a place on the VB Hard Yards Tour was a huge achievement, what can we expect on this tour setlist wise?

Cannot even express our excitement for VB Hard Yards tour. We are very grateful to all the people who helped to get us there with their votes. Setlist wise, we’ll be playing stuff from the new album, so that’s pretty exciting and probably a little cover, it’s going to be a lot of fun.

Fuck yeah, we’ll be there with bells on (not literal bells), however, last but not least, if you had to choose between a classy Fruity Lexia or a case of VB Tinnies, what would you choose?

VB tinnies, it’s the only beer I actually like.

Good call, thanks for the chat mate.
