Mental Health Awareness is an important topic that more and more people are discussing on a daily basis nowadays. We had our own conversation a few weeks back on our Wall of Sound: Up Against The Wall podcast and others have found their own ways of initiating that discussion with their own ventures.
One that landed in our inbox that we can’t ignore is Resilience Festival 2018, a Music Festival which is being held in the country town of Lithgow, NSW (just outside of the Blue Mountains and Bathurst) that organiser Greg McManus explains is in aid of Mental Health and Suicide Prevention awareness:
“A number of people have taken their lives in the area in the last 18 months and we want to raise awareness and funds to pump back into the community and support people in the area.
Resilience 2018 is a one day festival designed to shed light on services available in the community to reach out to, showcase the range of activities and groups in the area to improve well being and live music featuring a mix of both premium Australian artists along with local talent.
Our vision is to breakdown the barriers and stigma surrounding mental health and suicide prevention, as well as donate money back into the local community to help improve services in the region. There is a need to bring the community closer and support each other through these times and we encourage everyone to get involved.
Reflect, Recover, Live… Resilience!”
What better way to do that than with a live show consisting of a number of fantastic Aussie bands like Tonight Alive, Hellions, Clowns, The Chats, RED BEE, Hanny J, Datura Curse, Earprojector and heaps more. The event is being held at Tony Luchetti Sportsground on October 13th and tickets are On Sale right now via the website.
Get involved if you’re from the Central West area and if you’re from out of town, go along and check out the area, it’s a great place to drive through if you can spare the weekend.
If you or anyone you know needs help with their own mental well-being call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636 or find your closest Suicide Prevention/Crisis Support Organisation on Google…
Featuring: Tonight Alive, Hellions, Clowns, The Chats, Hanny J and more.
October 13th @ Tony Luchetti Sportsground, Lithgow NSW
