Tribute bands are nothing new, in fact, if you have a look at your local live music scene you’re likely to find tribute acts playing everything from Pink Floyd to One Direction. What is new and unique is an all-female tribute act to British heavy metal royalty Iron Maiden - enter The Iron Maidens!
What started out as a bit of a fun project on the side to just hang out and play a bit of ‘Maiden has turned into an international touring juggernaut. The band has toured extensively in the US, across Europe and in places as diverse as Iraq and Turkey. So when an Australian tour was announced I jumped at the chance to grab a few minutes with bass player Wanda “Steph Harris” Ortiz. We chat about the upcoming tour, getting ripped off on the road and what’s hiding in her CD collection.
