Matt Tanner leaves Tired Lion

Just as the band started to gain traction and popularity following the release of their latest album Dumb Days, Perth’s very own Tired Lion have parted ways with guitarist Matt Tanner according to a post on their Facebook page overnight.

Tanner stated:

“I started this band with my friends just after high school and have loved being able to write, create and perform for you all over the years. This band has been a huge part of who I am so making this decision was very hard yet necessary for my own personal reasons. The show will definitely go on and I know the guys are most likely already working on a bunch of new tunes plus will be continuing to tour a whole heap.”

The band who just recently performed at Hyperfest in WA (our coverage here) have toured Australia extensively over the past could of years and even had Violent Soho frontman Luke Boerdom on producing duties for their new album.

No word yet on who will be replacing Matt at the band’s upcoming show in Adelaide and their Big Pineapple Festival slot.
