QUEEN + Adam Lambert – Gig Review & Photo Gallery 21st February @ Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney NSW

WOW! What a night, getting to photograph Queen with Adam Lambert (which was amazing) but to also see the rest of the show blew my mind. The evening kicked off fast and loud with the chorus of “We Will Rock You” before charging into ‘Hammer To Fall‘, ‘Stone Cold Crazy‘ and ‘Tie Your Mother Down‘ and it was out of the photo pit and into the stands. What a way to kick off what was going to be a memorable night.

I made it back in time for ‘Don’t Stop Me Now‘, and there was no stopping Adam, Brian or Roger Taylor by this point. Adam Lambert quickly addressed the “you’re not Freddie critics” by stating that there really is only one “Rock God” which I think won a few doubters over in the crowd. One of the many highlights was Brian May coming forward on his own and playing/singing ‘Love Of My Life‘ while on the video wall, Freddie was imposed next him, a touching tribute I thought to (in my opinion) the best front man ever, the late Freddie Mercury. The fill-in frontman Adam Lambert even had time to sneak in a cover of his global smash hit single ‘Whataya Want From Me‘ which as music fans should know, was penned by Pink.

The guys shifted back into rock mode and blasted out classic after classic including ‘I Want To Break Free‘, ‘Radio Ga Ga‘ and closing the main set with the timeless classic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody‘, before plunging the arena into darkness and the crowd into a frenzy for more. After what seemed like several minutes but I’m sure it was quicker than we thought, they were back for one hell of a encore, closing the show with ‘We Are The Champions‘ and filling Quodos Arena with what looked like a tonne of confetti.

This is a show no music fan should miss a truly remarkable performance and amazing production.

Omfg!!! Sublime! How do you even begin to explain the feelings…let me try…I have been a huge Queen from way back when…42yrs ago..I fell in love with this band and my love has grown throughout their career..I knew the concert would be good…but this exceeeded all I dreamed of…let me tell you a secret..this is the first concert I have seen of theirs live…due to logigistics and finances…but this was one concert I was not going to miss..it may have been my last chance!! My friends and I flew from Townsville to see them…and knowing it would be emotional..especially for me…I was unprepared for the tears when Freddie flashed up on the big screen after Brian singing Love of my life….the best concert I have ever seen….thank you Qudos Stadium….my bucket list has now been fulfilled xxx

    • Saw them last night in Adelaide I have waited 43 years to see them, your review captured everything I felt Best concert I have ever been to 🙂

  3. Wow!

  4. Was fortunate to get seats in the bleachers for the first Sydney show. They may be old, but boy do they know how to rock, and entertain a huge crowd in a large arena. The staging was shaped as a guitar with the neck pushing out into the crowd allowing the band to walk out and play from the centre of the arena. The shows opening, with what looked like a 3-D mechanical hand stretching into the crowd was special as were the props (Frankie, pink bike), Adam’s costume changes and the on-going multi-media. The laser lighting towards the end of the show captured a night sky full of clouds that sat over the top of the audience. This was a truly special event and few bands could have pulled it off like this incredibly talented group of people. If you are a fan and are having 2nd thoughts about getting a ticket . . . . just do it! You wont be disappointed

  5. Glad to see Frank on the road!
