High Tension and Make Them Suffer are bringing the heavy to Download Festival

Following the news of Cursed Earth and Alpha Wolf withdrawing from Download Festival, we were left with two empty spots filled but two Australian bands. But the good folks at Download have gone as far to make sure two great Aussie bands fill the positions and we’re fucking so pumped for them.

First up is Melbournian heavy act High Tension who are no stranger to the festival scene, having played Splendour in the Grass back in 2006 in one of the best performances of the day. The band had to unfortunately cancel all of their shows towards the end of last year due to a family emergency but promised they’ll return this year with some new material behind them and that’s exactly what you can expect with their set.

Next up are Perth natives Make Them Suffer who put on a pretty fuckin decent show at UNIFY 2018 and have been blowing audiences away both locally and overseas after playing a whopping 140 date world tour in 2017. Their latest album Worlds Apart (our review here) was passed around the Wall of Sound HQ “like a beach ball at a Nickleback concert” (to quote the greatest movie of all time, Hot Rod) and we have backed them ever since. When we caught up with them at Unify for the Wall of Sound: Up Against The Wall podcast, they said to expect some big things this year, but given the news of why they were added, I don’t think even they knew what was coming.

For those wondering about set times, you can expect them to be revealed next week. Until then, get fuckin keen for the first ever Download Festival in Australia
