Red Hot Summer Tour
Bella Vista Farm, Sydney NSW
February 4th, 2018
Featuring: Moving Pictures, Chocolate Starfish, The Screaming Jets, The Baby Animals, The Angels and Suzi Quatro

This year’s Red Hot Summer Tour line up was one not to be missed Moving Pictures, Chocolate Starfish, The Screaming Jets, The Baby Animals, The Angels and headlined by the forever-young Suzi Quatro. Showcased in the beautiful grounds of Bella Vista Farm the day was destined to be a good one, no a bloody GREAT one.

The day started off with young Sydney sider Matt Cornell playing some country inspired rock in the vein of Bryan Adams, he kept the early crowd entertained along with the stream of fans filing in, as today was a sell-out with 5,000 in attendance.

Moving Pictures led by Mr Alex Smith hit the stage to a mighty welcome from the growing crowd and did not disappoint one bit, Alex with more energy and passion on stage than men 20-30 times his junior and taking to the air a few times, the crowd gave there all singing along to their anthem “What About Me”

Next up were Melbourne based Chocolate Starfish, who have a huge following here in Sydney and the “moshpit” filled rapidly, front man Adam Thompson had the Sydney crowd in the palm of his hands even to the point of sharing a Jim Beam with a punter in the front row, that wasn’t all Adam shared as he lifted his kilt and removed a very patriotic pair of boxers before flicking them into the crowd.

Now it was time for one band I was really keen to see and hear Newcastle’s favourite sons The Screaming Jets led by the highly energetic Dave Gleeson the man of many faces and what seemed an endless supply of energy. He told the crowd that “Many years ago 5 guys got in a van with a pocket full of drugs (each) and a pocket full of dreams to make the trip from Newcastle to Sydney and by the time they hit Swansea the drugs were gone but the dreams are still there”. They tore through a blistering set covering every era of the band and left the Sydney crowd in awe.

With hardly a chance to catch our breath and The Baby Animals were on stage led by the ever beautiful Suze Demarchi, they put on a great set covering all there greatest tunes and giving us a treat by debuting there brand new single ‘Tonight‘ and let me tell you they have not backed off this is a great tune, here’s hoping for an album to follow soon.

As the sun was setting it was time to go “Over The Top” with The Angels celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the iconic Face To Face album. With Gleeso backing up for his second set of the day this man is the Energiser bunny on steroids he did not stop the entire set and blasted through a classic angels set, and if my count was correct the line up at one stage consisted of 5 members of the Brewster family with John and Rick being joined by there sons.

With the sun just about set on this amazing day it was time for Suzi Quatro to come and close out the day, and what a way to close it, at the young age of 67 Suzi showed age really is just a number and put on a flawless energy filled set of all her classics including a duet with Dave Gleeson singing ‘Stumblin In‘ before taking a spot on the piano showing her many talents. But just as the sun dropped it was time for me to get a head start in front of 5000 Sydney rock n roll fans, to sum it up, WOW that was incredible from beginning to end and every part in between…
