Wall of Sound presents: “2017 YEAR IN REVIEW” – by Scalphunter’s Steve Wonder

One of the busiest and hardest working upcoming bands in the country come from the Western side and are known to fans as Scalphunter. After delaying their Lies album for what felt like a million years, we finally got our hands on the new material in 2017 and the band even ventured to Brisbane for Big Sound where they instantly gained fans and praise for their loud, energetic sets (we even grabbed the band mid-hangover for a chat in our Best of Big Sound podcast). We back these boys so much and are pumped to see what the future hold for them, in the mean time enjoy frontman Steve Wonder‘s thoughts for our Wall of Sound 2017 Year In Review

I’m digging the Ratking – Gotta Light’ video… Super simple and fun, rad tune!

BEST GIG YOU’VE SEEN 2017

Easy one! Night Birds @ The Boston. They were supporting Clowns. Real organic, super energetic, rad dudes, what more do ya want?

FAVOURITE MOMENT YOU HAD WITH YOUR BAND IN 2017?

Hmmm. Scalphunter is a family, Ash, Alex and Matty are my brothers so every moment spent hanging is the best moment… big highlight was making the Crowbar our spiritual home during Big Sound… F’kin love that place!

BEST SHOW YOUR BAND HAS PLAYED THIS YEAR?

I had a blast when we supported Dwarves. The crowd was awesome, the Boston is a great new dedicated punk venue. And the Dwarves lads were the nicest, raddest droogs.. No ego just pure love for punk rock and live music. (Review & Gallery Here)

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO IN 2018?

2018 I am looking forward to not working a job that’s paying someone else’s kids to go to school while I spend 10 hours a day away from my child to just scrape by. I am looking forward to bands that deserve to make it, making it, to the death of fads in music and for everyone to shave off their silly mullets 😊 I am looking forward to looking my wife in the eye instead of looking at a phone screen, using less plastic and eating less meat. I am looking forward to people being less offended and more proactive, less reactive and more empathetic. I am looking forward to never missing an opportunity to telling someone how great they are. See you there!
